Professionally speaking, I’m an assistant professor of linguistics at UC San Diego. You can learn more about me from my homepage.

A bit of backward chronology before arriving in San Diego in September 2006:

2005-2006: I lived in Edinburgh, Scotland as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Edinburgh School of Informatics.

1998-2005: graduate school at Stanford University, first in Anthropological Sciences (M.S.), then in Linguistics (Ph.D.)

1997-1998: research student at the University of Tokyo, studying evolutionary anthropology & population genetics. 日本語はもう下手になってしまいましたな。

1996-1997: studied Mandarin Chinese at the Inter-University Program in Taipei, Taiwan.

1991-1996: mathematics undergraduate at the University of Arizona, interrupted by one year studying Chinese at the National University of Singapore.
