I am interested in how people view their individual and collective connection to non-human nature and how this predicts attitudes and behaviors towards conservation issues. I am also exploring how expanding the sense of self through self-transcendent experiences can lead to experiencing greater connection with nature and the biosphere in general. Currently, I am focusing on the self-transcendent experience of awe within natural environments to induce this feeling.

I am also currently working on a study that explores the relationship between belief in your individual character strengths and psychological well being. This research expands on Seligman et al.’s (2005) signature strength intervention to explore the role that belief plays in improvement to wellbeing.
