This 2012 film directed by Kim Nguyen deals with the dilemmas of a twelve-year-old girl who is forced to become a child soldier in Congo (DRC). A panel led by Provost Ivan Evans and the AAASRC Board will discuss the film. Running Time for the Film: 90 minutes. This event is open to the campus community and the general public.

The 22nd Annual AAASRC Awards Banquet will be an evening of cultural and scholastic celebration. Join us in recognizing students, faculty, and staff from the UCSD community and beyond for their extraordinary contributions and achievements toward African and African-American studies. The evening will include a three-course dinner and dessert, dance and musical performances, and a keynote lecture revolving around AAASRC’s 2016 theme of Sports and Athlete Activism.
